Suffolk Family Carers is a registered Charity in touch with 14,239 Carers in Suffolk. For a quarter of a century, we have been providing front line health and social care services to Family Carers and have been partners in providing training and other Family Carer support all over Suffolk. We ultimately seek to minimise the hardships, difficulties and other challenges Family Carers face, to raise awareness of Family Carers and ensure their voices are heard throughout Suffolk. From a shoulder to cry on to providing appropriate information on benefits, we are here to help.
During recent years, demand for our service has grown as the number of Family Carers has increased and, as a result of this, we have developed new and innovative services focused on preventative interventions in partnership with Suffolk County Council, The NHS and The Big Lottery. Working strategically is key to our organisation if appropriate and timely services are to be developed to support Family Carers, and with this in mind we have been working closely with the new ‘Triangle of Care’ in Suffolk which joined Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust and The Carers Trust to provide collaborative and relevant support and respite for Family Carers. We are working on a new project providing monthly ‘drop-in’ sessions for Family Carers of hospital in-patients and this is already proving to be a helpful support.
We continue to develop innovative and relevant advice and support services for Family Carers of all ages and this year we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary.
