We rely on the generosity of local people to fund our core services. Leaving Suffolk Family Carers a gift in your will, however large or small, will help ensure that we continue to provide essential support, advice and guidance to family carers in Suffolk.
Type of gifts
Here are examples of different kinds of gifts you can make in your will:
• The remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones
• An amount of money specified in your Will e.g. £1,000
• A special gift e.g. an antique, a stamp collection, or even property or shares
Who will benefit?
Family carers will benefit from your generosity. Helping a local charity in which you believe can be very important and because legacy bequests to charities are free of inheritance tax, it can mean so much more.
If you have an existing will it may well be possible to simply amend it under a ‘codicil’ but take your solicitor’s advice.
If you do not have an existing will it is a good idea to make one and essential if you wish to make a charitable donation from your estate. Suffolk Family Carers does not give financial or legal advice.
If you wish to find a solicitor to make a new will you can visit this website: www.lawsociety.org.uk You can also contact The Law Society by calling 0870 606 2555.
We recommend that you seek professional advice when drawing up your will but here are two types of clauses you could put in your will for the ultimate benefit of family carers in Suffolk.
• A RESIDUARY LEGACY – this is the remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones.
'I give all (or …..% of) the residue of my estate to Suffolk Family Carers whose registered address for the time being is Suffolk Family Carers, Units 6 & 8 Hill View Business Park, Old Ipswich Road, Claydon, Ipswich, Suffolk IP6 0AJ (Registered Charity No 1069937) for its general purposes.'
• A SPECIFIC LEGACY - this is either money or an asset of value like an antique, stocks and shares or even property.
'I give to Suffolk Family Carers whose registered address for the time being is Suffolk Family Carers, Units 6 & 8 Hill View Business Park, Old Ipswich Road, Claydon, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP6 0AJ (Registered Charity No 1069937) the sum of £…….(or name of specific asset) for its general purposes.'
