About us

We are a large team who pride themselves on providing the best support to you if you care for someone with a mental health condition, dementia, ASD/ADHD or someone who has difficulties with drugs or alcohol.

What we offer

Mental health

Working in partnership with Suffolk Libraries and Suffolk MIND across Suffolk we have formed a new service designed to improve the way information, advice, guidance and emotional support relating to mental wellbeing is available to people with lived experience, families and carers.

As a family carer you have the opportunity to get involved with peer led information activities and groups to support you within your caring role. Linked to this, there are volunteering opportunities too. 1-1 sessions are also available and we work in partnership with a range of organisations including Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust to help you to gain information and support including access to a Carers Assessment of your needs.

To access support and more information please contact 01473 835455 or MH@suffolkfamilycarers.org

Substance Misuse

Working across Suffolk in partnership with Turning Point, we run the 'Navigating the Road to recovery’ programme for people caring for someone who is experiencing difficulties with substances, including alcohol.

The five session programme provides you with information, advice and the opportunity to meet with others who have a similar caring role. We link with Turning Point to facilitate ‘drop in sessions’ on a regular basis and work in partnership with a range of agencies to increase the information and support available to you including your access to a Carers Assessment of your needs.

To access support and more information please contact 01473 835411 subsmisuse@suffolkfamilycarers.org

Caring with Confidence - information & education programmes for family carers

The Caring with Confidence team offers you the opportunity to gain information and resources to support you in their caring role. There are a number of ways that this information can be accessed. You can attend our 3 week information programme, a selection of one off 2.5 hour workshops or tailored information sessions from external providers. Our aim is to provide you with a wide variety of useful information in a way that suits you best. Our 3 week programme covers topics such as your rights as a family carer, managing the stresses and emotions of caring and regaining balance in your caring role. The 2.5 hour workshops concentrate on one of these areas such as managing the stresses and emotions of caring. The information sessions can be on any subject that is relevant to you such as first aid or keeping active. We aim to provide you with what you need so if there is any area that you would like more information on do call us and we will do our best to facilitate it for you. All of our programmes, workshops and information sessions happen around the county and are available to all adult family carers. Contact us today to see what is happening in your area. You can call us on 01473 835446 or email cwc@suffolkfamilycarers.org

Looking after you!

As a family carer, you may feel stressed and worried, spending time thinking about your loved ones’ condition and the impact this has on your lives. You may spend a lot of time thinking about the things you need to do in your caring role and subsequently find it hard to prioritise your own needs.  Longer term, this can impact on your own wellbeing.  In recognition of this, we offer:
