Kirsten became CEO of Suffolk Family Carers in May 2015, having previously managed the Young People’s Service within the organisation. Her background is in central government and operational policy, spanning many areas including criminal justice, legal services and better regulation.
Nicci is a Suffolk resident, well known for her writing – both novels and journalism – who passionately supports the rights of family carers. We are extremely pleased that she has offered her support to us.
Chair of trustees
We improve the lives of family carers, including young carers and young adult carers: We focus on family carers; their needs and priorities – and those of their families – influence everything we do.
We support and empower family carers through accurate information and expert advice, training and advocacy, to help them make informed choices and to maintain their mental and physical health.
We support and empower young carers and young adult carers through multi-agency partnerships, tackling inappropriate and excessive caring situations, providing young people with a break and supporting them to build resilience to go on to lead full, independent lives.
We work positively with our commissioners, communities and partner organisations to highlight the growing and increasingly complex demands being placed upon family carers and the impact these are having on all aspects of their lives.
We value, support and develop our staff and volunteers so as to deliver the best services possible with the resources available.
We involve family carers in monitoring and evaluating the services they receive, from both Suffolk Family Carers and other organisations and use what we learn to challenge ourselves and others to continually improve.
